Comic Patrick Salvado could not take it all in any more, he broke down amidst witnessing surprise after surprise from friends fellow comedians at the Africa Laughs show held Friday at Kololo airstrip.
All was well right from the time he arrived at the venue, driven in a posh ride amidst cheers from the overwhelming crowd who eagerly waited for his arrival and performance.
Salvado stepped on stage and as usual, gave comedy lovers some serious lines of jokes ranging from how he got the venue for free from President Museveni, his five star treatment from his hotel room to the venue among others.
He went on praising his show as the best ever sponsored show and cited how two competing airlines both came on board to sponsor the event.
“2020 is really a big blessing to me, first of all I got this venue free of charge and the way I have been ushered in to is amazing, but most importantly, this show is really important, I don’t know how best to explain ‘The Singleton Africa Laughs’ show that is sponsored by two competing airlines; Uganda Airlines and RwandAir.”
The comic also recalled hosting Pastor Robert Kayanja and Jessica Kayanja’s wedding which makes him think ushered in all the blessings he has so far, being successful in whatever he does.
Salvado broke down in tears when his fellow comedians surprised him and came on stage with a cake wishing him a happy birthday as he was still on stage performing and heaping praises on his sponsors and fans.
In the midst of the joyful meltdown, there was also a video relayed of parents wishing him a happy birthday.
He became emotional probably because he least expected such a surprise from his colleagues, a thing that made him shed tears while his legs almost gave up under him.
Being Salvado, he picked courage and strength after some time as he joked, “even the rich cry,” sending the crowds into a frenzy of laughter for several minutes.
