Matthijs de Ligt reportedly rules out Manchester United move

Ajax defender Matthijs De Ligt has reportedly ruled out a move to Manchester United, paving way for Liverpool, PSG and Barcelona to fight for his signature.

The Ajax captain has become a top target for a host of European sides, after leading his side to the Champions League semifinals and the Dutch league triumph.

It's understood that Liverpool's interest in the center back has further complicated the situation especially for Barcelona, who have been thought to be front runners for his signature.

According to Sport, United are out of the running for his signature, despite offering the young defender a bumper deal.

Liverpool's Klopp wants the defender to partner Virgil Van Dijk in defense, after the Dutchman's superb season with the Reds.

Manchester United's failure to qualify for Champions League next season is one of the reasons De Ligt might want to look elsewhere, as he is keen on playing in Europe's biggest competition.

This will be a big blow for coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who was hoping to bolster his backline with one of the best young defenders in Europe.

Ajax wants at least £60million for the defender, who turns 20 in August.
