Liverpool told to swallow their pride and make shock transfer decision on Philippe Coutinho

Coutinho has endured a largely miserable 18 months as a Barcelona player

As Liverpool continue to revel in their status of European champions, Philippe Coutinho is something of an after-thought.

Since offloading the Brazil international in January 2018 for a truly eye-watering £142million, the Reds have gone from strength to strength, recording back-to-back Champions League finals in the process.

The most recent of which, of course, saw them secure the club's sixth European Cup as they beat Tottenham 2-0 in Madrid in June 1.

In contrast to the Reds' rise these past 18 months, Coutinho has endured a largely miserable spell at Barcelona, only occasionally showing glimpses of the brilliant talent he so routinely lit up Anfield with during his five years on Merseyside.

All is not well in the Coutinho camp, it would seem.

His stunning goal against Manchester United in the Champions League back in April was celebrated by him putting his fingers in his ears for a gesture that was apparently aimed at the Barca supporters who remain vocally on the fence about his purchase.

So, would Liverpool have him back? Tentative links of a return to Anfield have been mentioned, but the Reds are not in desperate need of the creative Coutinho at present.

Should they at least be sounding out Coutinho's representatives to see what the lay of the land is at present?

We put that question to ECHO readers on Monday and the response was significant.

Thousands of supporters across our social media channels had their say on what Liverpool should do about Coutinho's conundrum.
