Ugandan’s popular investigative journalist the Uganda Journalists Association president who survived lethal poison recently Haji Kazibwe Bashir Mbaziira has revealed how he has been approached by government state agents to betray Kyadondo East MP Kyagulanyi Robert Ssentamu popularly known as Bobi Wine on different occasions but refused these offers.
Kazibwe who hosts veteran journalist the former press secretary to the president also an advisor to president Yoweri Kaguta Museveni Tamale Mirundi on NBS TV popular program commonly known as One on One with Tamale Mirundi has criticised those attacking him over his controversial illness to get facts before making serious allegations about his just saved life.
‘When I was at NBS TV program I lost my senses and I bluntly told my producer that I can not continue hosting the program ‘The Eagle’ and the producer asked me to try and finish the program which I did. However during the due course I felt loosing my life,and it was not me!” Haji Kazibwe said.
Mr. Kazibwe who is also the presenter of a popular investigative program on Bukedde Fa Ma 100.5FM ‘Embuutikizi’ locally know as ‘Ekiryatabaala’ argued that before he was taken to International Hospital Kampala (IHK) news circulated on social media that he was poisoned.
“When I reached IHK I saw posts on social media that I was poisoned. After medical checkup at the medical facility, social media posts revealed that I had malaria before I was informed by medical personnel and later I was informed late after social media posts. At this point I was scared!” Kazibwe explained.
Haji Kazibwe told The Whisper Eye that he was advised to go for better medication from outside the Country and it is from that point in time he passed I vote of no confidence in Uganda’s health sector.
“When I reached Nairobi Hospital Kenya I was told by the doctor that I was lucky to have a chance and admitted in time.” Mr. Kazibwe stated.
The investigative journalist said that prior to the incident many state agents approached him to betray Mr. Bobi Wine which he refused, and he is not willing to do at any particular time.
“On various occasions, I was approached by various people asking me to accept money and leave Uganda to any European country of my choice but i rejected these offers because they are nothing, and i will never loose hope and stop fighting for Justice.” Haji Kazibwe remarked.
UJA president has attacked the government failure to address the circumstances under which he was poisoned.
“Why me?” Haji Kazibwe asked.
“However The Uganda government is mute on my issues as to why I was subjected being poisoned claiming that I have failed even to provide any medical evidence regarding my allegations that I was poisoned.” He added.
